10 Ways to Say I Love You

I love saying I love you. I have always been a wear my heart on my sleeve type of girl, and love is no exception. Whether it is telling my boyfriend that I love him or my best friend that I love her, I say it often! While saying it is great, I l really enjoy saying I love you through my actions the most. Sometimes the littlest things can make someone’s day and I try to make a conscious effort to do just that as often as I can! In the spirit of Valentines Day I wanted to share ten of my absolute favorite ways to say I love you without words in the hopes that you too can brighten a loved one’s day!

Make Breakfast

The way to my heart is through food. Seriously ya’ll. If you give me food I will probably love you forever. I figure hey, if I love food this much, other people must feel the same way! Making breakfast for a loved one is such a fun gesture that I get to benefit from as well hehe. This doesn’t have to be fancy. A stack of crisp toast and some jam in bed will work just fine. However, if someone made me a full breakfast complete with bacon and pancakes I wouldn’t complain though.

Leave Them a Note

Scrawl a short sweet message onto a note card or on the bathroom mirror for them to find. Sweet sentiments are great anytime, but especially if they are an unexpected surprise to discover.

Run An Errand

We all get busy and we all get stressed out. Sometimes just running a quick errand for someone can make a huge impact on their stress level and work load. Offer to go get their car washed or pick of a prescription! It’s the small gestures that count.

Buy Their Favorite Snack or Candy

My boyfriend has a major sweet tooth, so when I think of it I like to grab a bag of his favorite candy to surprise him with! Next time you are at the store pick up a bag of their favorite snacks or foods that you know they love! They might even share their snack with you!

Plan a Surprise

Plan a fun activity to do with your loved one and surprise them with it! Get creative! Plan a themed movie night, or all day city exploration adventure. For more fun ideas check out Ten Dates That You Have Never Been on Before!

Give Them Alone Time

When you are dating someone you often want to spend as much time with them as you can. There is absolutely nothing wrong with this but I try to remember that everyone needs a little alone time. As weird as this may sound, sometimes saying I love you means leaving them alone for a bit.

Do Something You Don’t Feel Like Doing

Sometimes love is doing BS you don’t want to do. Go see that weird sci-fi movie that he’s obsessed with and you have no interest in. Settle on pizza when you wanted Chinese. You will be okay I promise. By no means do I advocate not sharing your opinion on anything, but lets be honest, you don’t need to get your way 100% of the time.

Have An Adventure

Go jump out of an air plane together. Or you can adventure to that new taco stand you have both been talking about going to for 3 months now. Either way, go out and try something new together. Nothing says I love you more than trusting someone to share a new unknown experience with you.

Let Them Win the Argument

Just like you don’t need to get your way 100% of the time, you also don’t need to be right 100% of the time. But shhh I won’t tell anyone that you probably were right anyway. Let the small stuff go. No one needs to argue about whether or not to leave the fan on or off.

Listen and Remember

This may sound obvious, but listen to what the other person is saying. Wish them luck on the meeting that they have this morning that they mentioned several days ago. Ask them how their friend is doing that was having a rough time. Actively listening and engaging shows that you love them and take the time to care about their life.

I hope that you and your best friend/boyfriend/husband/mom/dog have an amazing Valentines Day! May it be filled with too much wine, and a lot of love! What is your favorite way to show someone that you love them? Let me know in the comments!

I made “Open When…” letters for one of my previous boyfriends when he was going through a really rough time. He loved them, and it was a great way to show I cared when I couldn’t be right by his side.
