Make It Happen: Faux Taxidermy

Inspiration Explosion   So tonight I had the best idea. Here's how it happened: Me, cross legged with my lap top- struggling to focus due to my boyfriend's obnoxiously loud game of Call of Duty going on next to me. Me, still not thinking of blog post idea. Me, getting up and turning down said obnoxious game. Me, finally focusing and thinking of brilliant idea. Idea: Help my readers implement trends, or timeless design styles into their homes. Have you ever thought to yourself "Wow that's freaking awesome, but I have no clue how to even go about pulling that off in my own house"...? Well you're in luck because I decided to start another design series!! *cries of relief from devoted audience* *loud applause* *confetti cannons* Make it Happen: (Insert Style of Concern…

Creativity With Decorative Accessories: Part Two

Photo by Emily Henderson My favorite things about designing a room are the decorative accessories. These little details can tell so much about the person living in the space and can really make an impact in the over all feel of the room as a whole. Decorative accessories are a chance to further surround yourself with the things that you truly love and find joy from. " Things do matter. Our homes tell our stories, they reflect the places we’ve been and the people we’ve loved along the way—and there can be no more beautiful design for living than that." -Nate Berkus If you haven't read the first part of my decorative accessories series, be sure to go read Creativity With Decorative Accessories: Part One. Artist Spotlight: Jeremy Miranda

As I was perusing Emily Henderson's blog today I came across a post where she was talking about several artists that she really liked. After I picked my jaw up off of the floor I decided I wanted to feature one of them on my blog. Because well, I found my new favorite artist of all time. I'm not even kidding you guys. I have never wanted to own every piece of art created by someone before. I absolutely love his style and composition. If I could walk off into the sunset with a painting, you better believe it would be one of Jeremy Miranda's. Go check out more of his work! Prepare to develop a new obsession. Several painting are linked to his etsy store and some to his I love the juxtaposition…

Fabric Headboards: DIY vs. Professional

Currently Jamming to: "How Soon is Now" by The Smiths I have seen so many great projects lately around the web featuring DIY custom upholstered headboards. These look great, and can be made very cheaply depending on the supplies used. Likewise, I have seen some stunning professional headboards floating around. This upholstered headboard trend has come back with a bang! Don't get me wrong, they've been around for years. However I'm starting to see more and more head boards covered in a bright, bold print instead of a standard tufted neutral. Here are some gorgeous headboards covered in bright bold pattern. Please don't lick the computer screen although I know it will be tempting. Your gonna  have to Windex it later and I'm sure you don't need another thing added to your to do…

Daily Dose of Stripes

Did you get your delectable dose of black and white stripes today? Well if not, you came to the right place. For more stripe porn, please refer to My Love Affair With Black and White Stripes. As mentioned in my previous post, I have developed my self a nice little infatuation with the black and white stripe. It looks stunning both in fashion, and the home and interior design world. I love the punchy flair it always seems to bring to the table. Add a pop of color and baby you're in business! I chose this awesome bath room to get the party started today. I  feel that the stripes kind of make the space feel more enclosed.  However, I think that the bold statement still looks great. DIY Glitter Starbucks Cold Cup

Last year one of my close friends and I, Hailey, had the best intentions of creating a DIY project youtube channel. Well needless to say, we only made one video. HA! I am planning on doing many more youtube videos featuring both DIY projects, and interior design tips and tricks. But I thought I would just put up my old video though so you can try this project for yourself. It was really easy and cheap! I think these cups are so cute and they make GREAT gifts! I gave them to a bunch of friends for Christmas and they loved them. Because it was Christmas we made them in such colors. I would love to make a bright purple, or pink one! Or even black glitter!! Living Room in Progress

My living room has been a work of progress for over a year. I'm constantly tweaking it, adding new items, socking money away for more expensive pieces, etc. When I originally moved into my current apartment about a year ago, my style was completely different. I still like many of the same things that I did before, but I like to think that my style has developed nicely into a MIX of styles instead of falling into just one straight arrow category. I love the Z Gallerie glam look and I used to want buy only chrome, black, or white. Like I'm not kidding. If  it wasn't that color I would spray paint it so that it fit nicely into my color family.  Umm yeah... it was time for some variety. Thinking back on…

Cozamia Love

Okay so if you haven't heard of Cozamia** you should probably crawl out from the rock you've been living under, shake the dry leaves from your hair, and head on over to their site and check them out! I discovered them about a year ago and have been drooling over their art prints since. I have yet to own one, but dang nabbit I will very soon - once I buy about ten other living room "necessities" ( I use this term loosely) . I just wanted to make a quick post and share a couple of my favorite prints with you guys just in case YOU happen to be the last person in America to know about them. Just kidding. They're not thaaat huge yet. But just you wait!   Anyway onto the…

Design Breakdown No.2

The second post in my Design Breakdown series simply had to be the beautiful studio apartment from the popular blog Sanity Fair .This beautiful Chinoiserie studio apartment ( french for "chinese-esque") always blows my socks off every time I look at it. This is the main image that I'm "breaking down" but I can't resist to not post other photos. Because well, it's just that good. So please for the love of Pete go look at her blog and revel in her home's greatness after reading my post ;) This isn't my favorite photograph of the space, but it gives you the best idea of the total layout instead of just specific areas. For this Breakdown I'm working off of several photos instead of the usual solo photo. Because frankly, I couldn't just pick…
