However, I am a firm believer that we can have a beautifully designed apartment on a budget. Over the years I have learned that it takes a healthy dose of hunting, patience, and planning. Anything worth having is worth the wait right?! There are tons of resources that have stylish decor pieces at an affordable price! Take your time and plan out your design ahead of time. Designing on a budget…

Defining Success

In the fast paced world of our present day life, it can be hard to take time to reflect on and recognize our successes. But with that being said, what defines success? I am always working to accomplish a goal, whether it may be getting everything finished on my to do list, or growing my blog readership by a certain number. These goals are easily identifiable and measurable. I either finish the list or I don't. I either grow by the desired number, or I don't. But how do you measure less tangible goals? When can I, as a blogger for example, say that I have "succeeded"? While yes, I am well aware that no one is going to tap me on the shoulder one day, hand me a plaque, and say "congrats Marie…

Artist Spotlight: Natasha Law

I first discovered Natasha Law in a House Beautiful spread from last month. Her bold, large scale paintings made such a statement and really caught my eye! I love large scale art  and these 60 x 48 pieces definitely fit the bill. I love the simplistic representation of the female form in various stages of dress. This would be such a fun piece to have in your first "big girl" apartment. Big statement pieces like this look expensive and really add a finished look to your space. You better believe this will be a conversation starter! This would be killer looking in an entry way or over a large piece of furniture like your bed or sofa! Check out both of the links above to browse more of Natasha Law's art! For more…

A Little Leopard

| Blouse, BCBG (old) | Jeans, H&M | Heels, Michael Kors (similar) | Earrings, Neiman Marcus | Clutch, (similar, I like this one even better!) | I really really wish that this silk blouse was still available. I don't know how I lived twenty years without it in my closet. I have to restrain myself from wearing it every other day! I can easily dress it up with heels and nice pants or dress it down with wedges and jeans. Every girl needs a versatile piece like this in their arsenal! I love pairing my leopard heels with simple blouses for a fun pop of pattern. These Michael Kors heels are super comfortable and probably one of my most worn pairs. I linked similar looking heels so you can have some leopard in your life…

Drinking Skinny

  | Chardonnay, 160 cal | Moscow Mule, 183 cal | Vodka Soda, 200 cal | Cosmopolitan, 215 cal | Jack and Coke, 240 cal |  Skinny Margarita, 275 cal |  I am pretty good about eating healthy. I typically make good decisions when it comes to food and limit my daily calories to a healthy intake for my body type. However, when it comes to drinking healthy, I am not the best. I am so bad about ordering sugary drinks. Bring on the frozen margaritas, pina coladas, and other fattening concoctions! I have noticed that this extra amount of calories a week really has affected the amount of ahem extra fluff on my body. No six pack for you ma'am! For this reason, I have been aware of my drinking habits as of late and am…

Tut Tut It Looks Like Rain

Scarf, Emilio Pucci (similar) | Trench, Brooks Brothers (similar) | Oxford, Target | Umbrella, Rue La La | Shoes, Salvatore Ferragamo (old) |  I have been sooo tired of all of the rain that Dallas has been getting lately! However, our flowers and lawns will stay nice MUCH longer this summer. I made use of the gloomy weather and styled a rain friendly outfit with my super adorable clear umbrella! I was kind of upset though because my hair was really curled and bouncy five minutes prior to stepping outside for these pictures, and then of course, pfffft flat within minutes. Oh well! The hazards of Texas weather. "If you don't like Texas weather just wait a second and it will change!" But seriously y'all. Honestly though, any excuse to wear this trench…

Zella Workout Apparel

| Blue Leggings | Pink Leggings | Multi Colored Capris | I first discovered Nordstrom's line of women's fitness apparel the other day when I was perusing around the store. I seriously love every single thing that the line has to offer! I got the scoop from a sales associate, and it is essentially Nike quality pieces in much brighter patterns. I LOVE every single color and pattern that they have to offer. I also love that it comes in plus sizes so everyone can enjoy the collection! I don't know about ya'll but I certainly feel like working out more when I am dressed to the nines in cute fitness clothing! These are three of my favorite leggings pictured above. The line features so many more things including sports bras, t shirts, tanks, long…

Navy Tunic

| Navy Tunic, Venus (on sale!!) | White Pants, Gap | Heels, Michael Kors (old) | Sunglasses, Chanel (very similar) | Earrings, Tory Burch (old) | Nail Polish, OPI Big Apple Red | When I discovered this tunic the other night when I was online shopping I legitimately freaked out. I have been looking for a dupe for the Sail to Sable tunic dress for so long! I love the look of it, but not the $200 something price tag. This tunic is on sale for $22. Yes. $22. I want to buy nine of them just in case something happens to this one. I may or may not have just ordered a white one too... I paired this tunic with a pair of wide leg white jeans for a fun flare! I am really glad…

You! | I love Mother's day! It is so fun to shop and spend the day with my beautiful mom and thank her for everything that she does for me! I'm probably not the beeest at planning ahead, so  for those scatter brains like me, I came up with a list of last minute gifts that your mom will love just as much as mine! 1.
