I'm Marie and I hoard collect beautiful art prints and coffee table books. Art prints are such an easy way to make your home look expensive without breaking the bank. I love that because they are affordable, I can collect them and switch them out in my gallery frames when I want to! 15 Ways to Take “Me” Time

15 Ways to Spend Alone Time | Progression By Design

I am an extremely social person and I love to spend time with my friends and boyfriend as much as possible. This is a great thing, don't get me wrong. However, if I'm not careful, it can lead to me feeling burnt out. I work from home and spend time alone during the day, but this isn't the "Me" time that I find myself truly needing. We all need to take time for ourselves and hit the reset button if you will. Taking this alone time clears my head and leaves me feeling refreshed and more productive overall! This year I want to focus on consciously carving out more time to spend with myself. As corny as this may sound, nurturing the friendship that you have with yourself is the most important relationship to nurture…

The Best Contour Palette For Your Money: A Review

The Best Contouring Palette You Can Buy For Your Money: A detailed review comparing the popular Anastasia contour kit, Kat Von D contour kit, and Lorac Pro contour kit | Progression By Design

| Anastasia Contour Palette, $40 | Kat Von D Shade + Light Contour Palette, $46 | Lorac Pro Contour Palette, $45 | [show_shopthepost_widget id="1379083"] When the Anastasia Contour Palette came out a few years and revamped the contouring trend, I was itching to get my hands on one. I'm glad that I waited though because several of my favorite makeup brands came out with their version of a contour palette and gave us all so much more to choose from! After trying several and owning several, I have finally decided on my favorite contouring palette. So OBVIOUSLY I had to share my new found wisdom with everyone. Makeup knowledge is makeup power after all. I just made that up, but it's fine we will go with it. Quick Disclaimer: I am by no means saying that any…

The Best Business Advice I’ve Ever Received

The Best Business Advice I've Ever Received | Lessons that we learn in business are invaluable to our success and growth. These three lessons have not only grown my business, but altered my entire way of thinking. | Business Advice

When I was still in high school I still had an idyllic view of the world whether I knew it or not. Graduate high school, go to University, become an interior designer. That was my sure fire three step plan to a successful life as an independent career woman. I failed to understand just how difficult it is to establish yourself in the real world. I underestimated how sheltered I still was and how out of touch I really was from reality. Really, No One Cares Of course I didn't expect everything to be handed to me, but what I failed to realize was that no one will ever truly care about my success. Of course my loved ones care about my happiness, but at the end of the day, it's not their job…

Getting Organized in 2016

With every new year comes a mass rush to the gym, a determined attempt to get your shit together get organized, and an unfaltering drive to turn your life around for the better. While we make our new years resolutions with the best of intentions, many of them remain uncompleted, re-scheduled to a time when we have more energy and free time to complete them.   Yeah... I'm done with that this year. This year I solemnly swear to kick a** at every endeavor that I begin. Time is something that we never get back.  I want 2016 to be a year of growth, happiness, and productivity in every facet of my life. So how exactly are you going to do that Marie? By clearly defining my goals, and finding a system to implement…

Long Bob Hairstyles and Style Tips

I have had long hair for many years, not including the ever so fashionable bowl hair cut of the late nineties that I sported when I was little (thanks mom). I have experimented with different shades of blonde since then, but have always kept it long. That being said, I want a change. I have been flirting with the idea of getting a long bob, or "lob" for short, for a few months now, and am still super nervous about pulling the trigger on it. I'm so scared that once I do it I will go through an intense period of mourning for my long hair and instantly regret this drastic decision. But hey - new year new me right? In the spirit of this monumental hair decision I wanted to share my collection…

The Meaning of Progression By Design

When I first created my website Progression by Design three (wow has it been that long?) years ago, I didn't have a clear direction. It originally began as a creative outlet that allowed me to write about my passion for interior design that eventually evolved into something greater. The name Progression by Design strikes a cord in my heart. True progression in life is by design. You must choose to grow and push yourself to be better. While change does happen naturally, epic growth stems from a conscious decision to make your life look and feel better. Whether that growth is learning to rely more on yourself, finally designing a home that you love to live in, or throwing a cocktail party that your friends will remember for years to come, progression happens in the conscious steps…
