So recently I have been looking for an art solution for over my desk in my bedroom. I played around with the idea of a large, over sized art piece, but finally settled on the idea of a small gallery wall. I love gallery walls because they give your space a curated look without too much effort or money. This bright, girly gallery wall above is what I have come up with for my bedroom and I am beyond excited to start purchasing the frames and art prints.

So how do I create my own gallery wall you may ask? Look no further ladies!

Picking Your Prints

  • Find a color scheme
  • Get creative with your pieces! Don’t limit them to traditional art prints.
  • Utilize free sources

When creating my bedroom gallery wall I stuck to the general color scheme of kelly green, bright pink, and several shades of blue. I pulled colors from the fuchsia painting of the woman to tie everything together! Another great tip when curating your gallery wall is not to limit yourself to traditional art prints! I decided to frame an old envelope with an inspirational quote on it (“Sometimes you just need to step outside, get some air, and remind yourself of who you are and where you want to be”) and seal it with a kiss wearing my favorite lipstick! Think old photo strips, a favorite piece of stationary, a pressed flower, a letter to yourself, your favorite word, your monogram, a map of your city, etc! Get creative and see what you can come up with!

If I am not making my own art, I typically find my art pieces on Etsy or Minted. However, here are some great free sources if you don’t have the money to shell out on art prints: Mrs. Fancee,Vintage Printable, Chicfetti, Classy Clutter. For more, you can search on Pinterest, or Google for free art printables.

Hanging Your Gallery Wall

  • Step One: Plan Your Gallery Wall Layout
  • Step Two: Hang the Frames
  • Step Three: Revel In Your Own Greatness

Step One: Create a mockup of your new gallery wall. Lay your frames out on the floor to get a feel for what the finished product will look like. Need inspiration? Check out this cheat sheet of frame arrangements here. Cut Kraft paper or tissue paper to the same size as each of your frames and measure where each nail will go on the pieces of paper.

Step Two: I am beyond excited that I found this really helpful tutorial that assists you through the physical picture hanging process of your gallery wall. Otherwise, keeping everything straight and evenly spaced can get a bit tricky! Tape your pieces of paper from step one onto the wall and hammer your nail right through each nail marking. Tear the paper off and hang your frames! Boom. Beautiful perfection!

Step Three: Revel in your greatness! You did it! You created a beautiful art curation all your own! The best part about gallery walls is that you can change it up anytime you want! Tired of your art prints? Get new ones!ll

I can’t wait until I have a lenient landlord who will let me hang things up. Right now, my magazine cutouts will have to suffice!

Use command strips! That way you won’t have to put holes in the walls! Obviously you can’t do like a giant frame, but I’m sure that you will still be able to get the gallery wall effect with no damage! 🙂

These are all such great tips! I have definitely been trying to think “out of the box” while curating my gallery wall. Michaels has some super cute note cards right now in their dollar bins, and I have picked out the cutest one to throw in a frame & display! Great post 🙂

More issues than Vogue-I love that one.
I usually just take posters or paintings and randomly hang them one over another. I know it doesn’t look to chick at the end, but since I got only one room, I try to fit in everything I fancy at the same time.

In english this would be called ”Shoes of Tamara’s friend” ;P (I’m so geeky)
I love ur collection of unusual shoes. It really inspires you, I just kind find a propper place or occassion to wear something like that too. But I would defenitly love to have the strawberry ones, they’re so cute <3
