How to Be THAT Girl | Progression By Design

Perfection. No one ever achieves it, and no one ever will. However, there is always that girl. Damn it THAT girl. We all know her. The girl that always seems to be on top of everything and ahead of the game to boot. Her hair is flawless, her teeth are blinding, and you better believe that she is armed with her day planner and ready to use it! We get annoyed with her and her freakish amounts of productivity. Why? Because we are jealous. WE want to get everything done and still have time to blow out our hair. But ladies… we can!

Get Organized


I am a huge advocate of lists. I make them for everything: shopping lists, grocery lists, playlists, wish lists, and most importantly, to do lists. How do you expect to accomplish everything in your day, week, or month if you don’t know exactly what it is that you need to accomplish? Get a day planner if you don’t already have one. I prefer a daily planner format so that I can write the day’s to do list in as well as view and create my weekly and monthly goals. Get as detailed as you need to. Some days I even get as specific as paint my nails, or dust the night stand. If I don’t add it to my list, it probably isn’t going to be completed.

Attention to Detail


It’s all in the details. Did you send that follow up email that you meant to after your lunch meeting? Did you remember to leave your apartment key for the maintenance guy? Did you touch up your nails before work, because well, they look terrible? No one remembers everything all of the time. But by paying attention to the little things, you will look and feel a lot more put together and on top of everything. Make a list of the different areas of your life that are of importance to you. For me it would be: Work, School, Fitness/ Health, Personal Appearance, Hobbies, and Relationships. Write in things that you need to improve on in each category and create a goal list to work off of!

Sacrifice and Perseverance


 

Rome wasn’t built in a day, but striving for perfection doesn’t come without sacrifice. Yes, it is soooo much easier to go to bed with wet hair, because YOLO pony tail (insert day of the week here), but perfectly coiffed hair requires you to make the effort and pick up a blow dryer. Whether it is making the extra effort at work, with your boyfriend, or in the gym, you have to put in the time and work if you expect it to function at its highest caliber. Push yourself! See how far you can go. You will be surprised at how much you can accomplish!

The most important thing to remember is that perfection is not attainable. No woman will ever be perfect. Push yourself to be the best, but don’t get too caught up in the exact results. Everyone pushes that to do list item to sometime in the near future next Friday on occasion. Let it go.
