When Britney Spears shaved her head, everyone was all
who the hell does that “that was an interesting decision.” Wallpaper can have the same effect. If used in the wrong space it can look out of place and visually chaotic. However, wallpaper used in the right way can have a pleasant, eye catching effect on the design of the space. Pattern and color have a lot to do with how intense the wallpaper appears in the room. A neutral, subtle pattern will have a soft, placid effect. Bold pattern and color will make a dramatic statement in the room.
And without further delay, let the wallpaper porn commence!
Wallpaper can be a nerve wracking design element to choose for your space. If you’re unsure about completely diving into the world of wallpaper then consider papering your walls with a subtle pattern. This can have a bold effect without committing too much on a bold, bright pattern. The walls will appear less busy and cause individuals to focus less on the walls and more on the space as a total entity.
Okay now it’s time to bring out the tequila and the electric razor. Bold statement, here we come. I simply love all of these rooms and the delicious wallpaper that accompanies them. Is it wrong to want to eat wallpaper? Pattern lovers, you know what I mean.
Take Notice: Some of these bold wallpapers are only used on one wall. I like the look of all four walls as well as one focal wall. I like the focal wall because it allows for a bold design effect, without being the main focus of the room.
If you are still not quite liking the idea of some of your main rooms papered, then consider papering a more out of the way space such as the guestroom or bathroom. You can even put wallpaper on the CEILING of one of these rooms. There are no limits, let your creativity run wild!
Note: When choosing wallpaper for a small area such as a guest bathroom or closet, pay close attention to the size and scale of the pattern. Larger scale patterns can make the space feel much smaller than it is. It’s usually better to go with a smaller scale print in these more enclosed areas.
You can even add small panels to add a small taste of pattern into a space.
I hope some of these delicious images have inspired you to add some more pattern into your life! What kind of wallpaper are YOU drawn to? The lets drink tequila and shave your head kind? Or the softer kind? I love them both! Let me know!
