I don’t quite know when my steamy love affair with black and white stripes began, but they certainly have entered themselves into my life with a bang. At first it was just a school girl crush, a few innocent pins here and there. But then suddenly I find myself in the midst of a committed relationship, my head swimming – filled with profound love and emotion for this delightful pattern.
“While this gorgeous space may not typically be of my taste, one cannot argue with the stunning beauty of these giant black and white striped curtains. ” -Nate Berkus
Along with black and white striped, I also seem to be in love with Emily Henderson because I feel like I use a lot of her interior design work as examples. I love this rug from Ikea! It has such a bold graphic look and adds a lot of visual interest to the living room. Some of the art prints on the gallery wall reflect the black and white rug on the floor making the space appear more cohesive.
I want everyone to stop and marvel at this adorable striped teepee. Had I had this as a young child I would have most certainly have been found gazing lovingly up at the super cute stripes from a comfy pillow inside of the teepee. And probably quite often. And furthermore, what child wouldn’t love a teepee?
Florals and stripes are a common pattern couple and almost always look great together. The black and white paired with the bold colors of the floral look stunning and really make the flowers pop. Because black and white are neutral colors, they do a great job of accenting brighter colors and making them appear more vibrant and colorful.
I saved the best for last. This delicious Louis XVI chair upholstered in…can you guess? BLACK AND WHITE STRIPES! After finding this chair on Pinterest I immediately decided my life would never be complete without this beauty in it. I will find a Louis chair. And you better believe I WILL cover it in beautiful stripes. After that there will be no separating us until death do us part.
Long story short, I’m clearly in love with this pattern. What patterns or things are you in love with? I would love to know because it would indicate to me that there are others out there head over heels for an object or design. And I just might feel a little less crazy.
