Pantone Color of the Year 2014- Radiant Orchid

Pantone announced that Radiant Orchid is 2014’s color of the year mid December. When I first heard the news, I wasn’t sure how I felt about this color. I’m not a big pink/purple kind of girl, and when I am, I like darker shades of them. So needless to say, it took me a minute to process my feelings. Now that I have seen so many of the amazing things that are out there in Radiant Orchid, I must say that I like the color. It’s bold and unique, but soft and inviting.

According to Pantone, Radiant Orchid is “An enchanting harmony of fuchsia, purple and pink undertones, Radiant Orchid inspires confidence and emanates great joy, love and health. It is a captivating purple, one that draws you in with its beguiling charm.”

Logically, this color choice makes sense after 2013’s Emerald. Our economy was/is still recovering from a damaging recession, and emerald was a sign of “growth and prosperity.” The following Radiant Orchid makes absolute sense to me. It reminds me of a healthy human glow. soft and radiant, but bold in it’s happiness. So good job Pantone, I look forward to see where Radiant Orchid takes us this year.

And for your viewing pleasure, here are some of my favorite interiors, and products featuring Radiant Orchid.
